PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND

PUREBRED POULTRY (FANCIERS) ASSOCIATION

2016 SPRING SHOW

Place: Gateway Arena, Borden-Carleton

Date: May 21, 2016

1. Entries close May 1, 2016

2. Entry fee – $1.50 per entry. No trio class. Fee must be sent with entry. Out-of-province exhibitors will not be charged extra entry fee for not being members, but all Island exhibitors must be members in good standing for 2016-17.

3. Send all entries to: Trevor MacDonald, P.O. Box 31, Murray River, P.E.I. C0A 1W0.

4. Please enter birds using full and proper names of breeds and varieties.

5. CHICKENS, TURKEYS, & GAME FOWL (except Wild Waterfowl) MUST BE VACCINATED FOR I.L.T. AND HAVE OFFICIAL GOVERNMENT WING BANDS. THIS ALSO INCLUDES BIRDS BEING OFFERED FOR SALE IN THE SHOW BUILDING. Those birds requiring I.L.T. vaccination which originate from provinces where the program is not in place may be shown if they have been vaccinated by a veterinarian. This must be documented on offical letterhead from the veterinarian. The document will have to be presented to a club officer prior to being allowed to coop in.

6. Exhibitors of chickens are requested to mark their entry in each class as either Standard or Bantam.

7. Classes are open to old birds only.

8. Birds must be cooped in by 9:30 A.M. on Saturday, May 21, and will be released at 5:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 21. No early coop-out – this is a full day show. IF YOU FEEL YOU ARE UNABLE TO ABIDE BY THIS ARRANGEMENT, PLEASE DO NOT ENTER. BIRDS MUST REMAIN IN THEIR PENS UNTIL THE ANNOUNCED COOP-OUT. Exhibitors will be permitted to coop in on Friday evening, May 20. We will make every effort to delay judging classes for those who are unable to coop in before 9:30 due to travel arrangements. If possible, please notify the association of your situation.

9. If at all possible, please notify the secretary of any substitutions prior to arrival at the show. There is no guarantee that substitutions requested at the show will be accepted. To make changes, call the secretary at (902) 962-3307 or e-mail: tmacthesub@hotmail.com

10. Junior (UNDER 18) exhibitors are requested to mark their entry form “Junior”. Junior exhibitors must be at least 6 years of age.

11. Pigeon exhibitors will please note that all colours of each breed will be judged together, except where there are four or more of a recognized colour shown. In this case, a class will be made for that colour with all other entries being shown as an A.O.C. class of that breed. PIGEON EXHIBITORS ARE REQUESTED TO INDICATE THE COLOUR OF EACH ENTRY ON THEIR ENTRY FORM.

12. Eggs may be removed from pens by the owner of the bird or club officials only.

13. Exhibitors of Indian Runners will please note that these birds will be judged in a ring. Please have your entries banded for identification purposes.

14. Pens will be made available for most Game Fowl entries. If showing Game Fowl which will remain in the exhibitor’s cage (i.e. quail, pheasants), please ensure that the cage is of good quality.

15. Eastern Canadas will be shown in the open show. All other varieties of Canadas will be shown

in the Game Fowl class. Woods and Mandarins will be shown in the Game Fowl show. Wild turkeys will be shown in the Game Fowl show.

16. Birds shall be handled by judges, clerks, show officials, and owners only.

17. Club officials maintain the right to remove sick or lousy birds from the show.

18. Only judges, clerks, or show officials are permitted in the aisles during judging.

19. All exhibitors whose entries are received or post marked by May 1 will have their name entered in a draw. The draw will take place on Saturday at the show and the winner will receive a prize of $20.

20. Ribbons will be awarded for 1st to 4th. A Best of Breed will be selected in each breed. Rosettes will be awarded in breeds where five or more birds are shown.

21. Ringneck and Diamond Doves will be allowed to compete for Champion and Reserve Pigeon as

well as Champion Junior Pigeon.

22. The following trophies will be awarded: Grand and Reserve Grand Champion (selected from poultry and domestic waterfowl), Champion Junior Standard, Champion Junior Bantam,

Champion Junior Waterfowl, and Champion Junior Pigeon. Certificates will be awarded for

Champion and Reserve Standard, Bantam, Duck, Goose, Turkey, Pigeon, and Game Fowl,

23. SPECIAL: The Vernie Webster Memorial Trophy, donated by the Family, will be presented to the association member showing the Champion Pigeon.

24. SPECIAL: The Reg MacLure Memorial Award, donated by the Family, will be presented to the exhibitor showing the Champion Junior Exhibit by a Club Member.

25. SPECIAL: The Peter Coles Memorial Award, donated by the P.E.I. Purebred Poultry (Fanciers) Association, will be presented to the exhibitor showing the Champion Poultry (Standard or Bantam).

26. SPECIAL: The Chester R. Moore Memorial Trophy, donated by the late J. Malcolm MacKenzie, will be presented to the exhibitor showing the Champion Waterfowl.

27. SPECIAL: The Albert J. Boswall Memorial Award, donated by Bill English, Saint John, New Brunswick, will be presented to the exhibitor showing the Champion Rouen.

28. SPECIAL: The Glen Ryan Memorial Trophy, donated by the Family, will be presented to the exhibitor showing the Reserve Grand Champion of the Show (selected from poultry and domestic waterfowl).

29. SPECIAL: The Gerrit Loo Memorial Award, donated by Hilton Bryanton, Margate, P.E.I., will be presented to the exhibitor showing the Champion Heavy Waterfowl. The Champion Heavy Goose and Champion Heavy Duck will compete for this award.

30. SPECIAL: The J. Malcolm MacKenzie Memorial Trophy, donated by the P.E.I. Purebred Poultry (Fanciers) Association, will be presented to the exhibitor showing the Reserve Champion Waterfowl. Mr. MacKenzie was the first president of the association when it was founded in 1976.

31. SPECIAL: The Gerald Johnstone Memorial Trophy, donated by the P.E.I. Purebred Poultry (Fanciers) Association, will be presented to the exhibitor showing the Champion Junior Exhibit.

32. SPECIAL: The Colbourne Clow Memorial Trophy, donated by the Family, will be presented to the exhibitor showing the Champion Duck.

33. SPECIAL: The Clarence Moore Memorial Trophy, donated by Trevor MacDonald, Murray River, P.E.I., will be presented to the exhibitor showing the Champion American. During his years in the Fancy, Mr. Moore exhibited many of the American breeds, including Rhode Island Reds and Jersey Giants which were among his specialities.

34. SPECIAL: The Doc’s Loft Trophy, donated by Leigh Oliver, Alberton, P.E.I., will be presented to the exhibitor showing the Champion Racing Homer.

35. SPECIAL: A trophy, donated by the late Glen Ryan, will be presented to the exhibitor winning Best of Breed in the Largest Class.

36. SPECIAL: A trophy, donated by Wilfred McLean, Sydney, Nova Scotia, will be presented to the exhibitor showing the Grand Champion of the Show (selected from poultry and domestic waterfowl).

37. SPECIAL: A trophy, donated by the late Glen Ryan, will be presented to the exhibitor showing the Champion Fantail.

38. SPECIAL: A trophy, donated by the late Frank Symonds and the late Leroy Quinlan, will be presented to the exhibitor showing the Champion Bantam Duck.

ALL PERPETUAL TROPHIES WON BY OFF-ISLAND EXHIBITORS WILL BE MAINTAINED BY THE ASSOCIATION. EXHIBITORS WILL RECEIVE A SUITABLE MEMENTO.

39. SPECIAL: An award, donated by Brian Court, Charlottetown, P.E.I., will be presented to the exhibitor showing the Champion Dove.

40. SPECIAL: A prize of $20, donated by Brian Court, Charlottetown, P.E.I., will be presented to

the exhibitor showing the Champion Silkie.

41. SPECIAL: A prize of $10, donated by James Carson, River Glade, New Brunswick, will be presented to the exhibitor showing the Champion Guinea. This prize will be increased to $20 if

ten or more Guineas are shown.

42. SPECIAL: A prize of $10, donated by the Maritime Fanciers Directory, will be presented to the

exhibitor showing the Grand Champion of the Show. Exhibitor must be listed in the current

edition of the M.F.D.

43. SPECIAL: An award, donated by Charley Devine, Orono, Maine, will be presented

to the exhibitor showing the Champion Parti Color Standard.

44. SPECIAL: A prize of $20, donated by Merle Watson, Shubenacadie E., Nova Scotia, will be presented to the exhibitor showing the Champion Standard Wyandotte, other than White.

45. SPECIAL: A prize of $20, donated by George Piers, Kingsclear, New Brunswick, will be presented to the exhibitor showing the Champion Junior Landfowl.

46. SPECIAL: A prize of $10, donated by Mac-Harp Poultry, RR 4 Bracebridge, Ontario, will be presented to the exhibitor showing the Champion Brahma.

47. SPECIAL: A prize of $10, donated by Mac-Harp Poultry, RR 4 Bracebridge, Ontario, will be presented to the exhibitor showing the Champion Hamburg.

48. SPECIAL: A prize of $10, donated by Mac-Harp Poultry, RR 4 Bracebridge, Ontario, will be presented to the exhibitor showing the Champion Utility Pigeon.

49. SPECIAL: A prize of $25, donated by C & W Hobby Farm, Lower Cape, New Brunswick, will be presented to the exhibitor showing the Champion Plymouth Rock.

50. SPECIAL: A prize of $10, donated by Rick Bell, Charlottetown, P.E.I., will be presented to the exhibitor showing the Champion True Bantam.

51. SPECIAL: The P.E.I. Purebred Poultry Fanciers Associaiton offers the following cash prizes:

$20 for Champion and $10 for Reserve Champion Junior Standard, Bantam, Duck, Goose, and

Pigeon.

52. 4-H AWARDS: The Prince Edward Island 4-H Council will award prizes to the Champion and Reserve birds exhibited by 4-H members. Please indicate on your entry form if you are a 4-H member.

53. PROVINCIAL MEET: NORTH AMERICAN HAMBURG SOCIETY. The N.A.H.S. offers to its members in good standing points toward Exhibitor of the Year awards at this show. Send dues ($15 Senior; $10 Junior; or $18 Family. Payable in U.S. dollars) to: Larry Jenkins, 420 West Cadbury Dr., Apt. L108, South Jordan, Utah 84095 U.S.A. Dues must be paid by show day to receive points.

54. REGIONAL MEET: COCHINS INTERNATIONAL. This club offers points toward its Master Exhibitor Award at this show. Points are awarded for Best and Reserve of Variety and Breed as well as Best Cochin Overall (must be a minimum of 5 Standards and 5 Bantams shown). Check

the association’s website for payment of membership dues.

55. PROVINCIAL MEET: AMERICAN POULTRY ASSOCIATION. The A.P.A. offers ribbons and certificates to winning entries at this show. Master Exhibitor points will also be awarded. Send dues ($20 for 1 year or $50 for three years – Senior; $15 for one year – Junior – under 18. Payable in U.S. dollars) to: American Poultry Association, P.O. Box 306, Burgettstown, Pennsylvania 15021 U.S.A. Dues must be paid by show day to compete for points.

56. SPECIAL MEET: OLD ENGLISH GAME BANTAM CLUB OF AMERICA. This club offers awards at this show. For more information, contact Jim Brimicombe.

57. PROVINCIAL MEET: JAPANESE BANTAM BREEDERS ASSOCIATION. This club offers to its members in good standing awards at this show for Champion and Reserve Japanese. Send dues ($10 Payable in U.S. dollars) to: Ronald Greer, 2804 Avenue A, Bay City, Texas 77414 U.S.A. Dues must be paid by show day to compete for awards.

58. SPECIAL MEET: INTERNATIONAL CORNISH BREEDERS ASSOCIATION. This club offers points to its members at this show. For more information, contact Jim Brimicombe.

59. SILENT AUCTON: A silent auction will take place during the day of the show. Donated items will be gratefully accepted. Consignments are also welcomed. Consignment will be 20% to the club. Bids will close at 3:00. To place items in the sale, please see Brian Court or the secrestary.

60. Show judge is:

61. Show day schedule:
