-Note that that poultry show at Souris will be held on Sunday. It had appeared that there would not be a show this year, but it has been put back into the program.
-We have had a series of good poultry shows this summer. Numbers were up. Good birds were shown.
The summer show season is nearing an end. It looked as if there was not going to be a show in Souris, but after making contact with the president of the Eastern Kings Ex., they have agreed to hold a show. It was not a matter of not wanting a show, but of the timing.
As most of you know, I am involved with several of the fair shows here on the Island. I wish to express my thanks to those who faithfully help with the set up and tear down of these shows. The largest task every summer is Old Home Week. The set up does not start until about 8 PM on Saturday and often takes to almost midnight to complete. On Wednesday evening, it all has to come down so that stalls can go back up. These same people stay behind and help. This is VOLUNTEER help and is greatly appreciated. Without the help of those who come out at all of these shows to help, these events could not happen.
I received my prize list the other day for the Royal Winter Fair. That must mean that autumn is close by. I am looking forward, as always, to being at the Royal. This is a special year for me as it will be my 30th year showing in Toronto.
